KT Dodd

They/Them

Voice + Acting

KT, a distinguished artist and experienced educator, is making their mark in Atlanta, bringing together a rich background in performance and a deep commitment to teaching. They hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Performance from Central Michigan University, but their passion for performance was ignited in Michigan, their home state, as early as age nine. What started as a youthful endeavor in a local theatre has morphed into a dynamic career, where they have excelled as an assistant director, choreographer, music director, and performer.

From the age of twelve, KT has been meticulously fine-tuning their vocal abilities in various styles including musical theater and classical. Over the past fifteen years, they have continued this journey with some of the most respected vocal coaches, and their skills have been showcased in musicals, dance and vocal recitals, and short films. Their pursuit of the arts did not stop in Michigan; they extended it to a professional theatre career that has seen them perform in New York City, tour internationally, and most recently, thrive in Atlanta's musical theatre and TV/film scenes.

One of KT's unique strengths is their seamless blend of performance experience and childcare skills. With over a decade of experience as a teacher, camp counselor, Music Director for youth theatre, swim coach, and nanny, they are adept at connecting with young individuals of varying ages. This ability to relate to their students on a personal level enhances their teaching approach, enabling them to instill confidence, encourage healthy self-expression, and inspire students to claim their space on the stage and in the world.

KT's extensive acting training, including methods from Stanislavski and Meisner, complements their vocal prowess, equipping them with a robust toolkit to nurture budding performers. They have proven their talents in memorable roles such as Betty Jean in The Marvelous Wonderettes, Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins, Tania in Shady Business, Sheila in A Chorus Line, Turtle in Frog and Toad, and Max/Swing in How I Became a Pirate.

In the classroom, KT combines their performing arts expertise with their educational skills to guide students to their fullest potential. Their teaching philosophy prioritizes a balance of technical skill, self-expression, and enjoyment, and is adaptable to each student's focus, whether they are gravitating towards a professional performance career or exploring a newfound interest. At the core of KT's teaching is the belief that the power of the arts extends beyond performance—it is a conduit for personal connection and self-discovery. They're committed to help students uncover this power, one lesson at a time.
