Gabe Salazar is an enthusiastic and experienced conductor, tenor, music educator, and vocal coach skilled in fostering the artistic development of musicians of all backgrounds of life. Gabe brings to Michael Karl Studio 15 years of professional experience in the music industry as a conductor, teacher, coach, and performer. Gabe completed his Master of Music degree in Voice at Lee University with further studies at California State University, Fullerton. His professional career has included serving as the Director Of Music for the United Church of Thousand Oaks in Thousand Oaks, California; the Director of New Life Singers and member of the voice faculty at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona; performing as a staff singer The Chicago Symphony Chorus as well as Pacific Chorale in Costa Mesa, California; and as Choral Director at Champs Charter High School of the Arts in Los Angeles and Osceola County School for the Arts in Kissimmee. He also has music-directed productions such as Rent, Pippin, The Mikado, and Hairspray.
Gabe is currently serving as the Artistic Director of The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The chorus comprises 130 members that sing several MainStage concerts each season and numerous outreach performances in south Florida.
In March 2019, Gabe made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut with his Chamber Singers. The group won a prestigious competition to headline the world-renowned Isaac Stern Auditorium concert. Gabe is thrilled to be a part of Michael Karl Studio and looks forward to creating a fun and productive environment for his students to learn and grow musically.
