Maxel Amador is a New York performer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre with credits in Cinematography and Writing from Elon University. Maxel grew up in Miami, studying at New World School of The Arts where he began his career in percussion, dancing, singing, and acting. Before college, Maxel studied and performed at both The Broadway Theatre Project and French Woods Performing Arts Camp, and was cast in various commercials in Los Angeles. Maxel auditioned for 10 of the top music theatre programs in the United States and was accepted into 7 of them before ultimately choosing Elon University for his undergraduate degree.

At Elon, Maxel was cast as Sonny in ‘In The Heights’, Ali Hakim in ‘Oklahoma!’, and Verges in ‘Much Ado about Nothing’. Maxel also directed and assistant directed ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ and ‘Working the Musical’. Since graduating, Maxel has worked all over the United States, starring in various musicals and plays in top regional houses such as Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, and the Ogunquit Playhouse. Maxel has also originated off-broadway musical roles such as ‘A Crossing’, an original production by Barrington Stage. 

Throughout his extensive performance career, Maxel has also cultivated and crafted his own curriculum, teaching various age groups Shakespearian text, acting methods, and voice. At Orlando Shakespeare Maxel taught middle school and high school students how to understand and deliver Shakespearian text and at Arkansas Shakespeare he worked with students on the fundamentals of acting and singing. Maxel has prepped performers on auditions for colleges and regional shows while continuing to learn himself from some of the most credited and well known professors of voice and acting in the industry such as Kurt Robinson, Dan Callaway, Chaz Mena, and Amanda Flynn. 

Maxel approaches every student with a commitment to health, technique and personality. His goal is to guide students with fundamentals and creativity. Striving to give them the tools they can use to build a performance that they can be proud of. Maxel is also a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association.
