He/Him

Joshua Schwartz

Voice

Josh is an Atlanta-based vocal teacher with an energetic personality.  He’s had years of performing experience in musical theater, bands, and solo shows.  His approach to teaching is all about engagement.  He wants to learn about a student’s preferences and interests, in order to facilitate a collaborative journey to their musical goals. He believes in activity as a way to teach theory.  He thinks the best way to learn is through doing.  Josh also loves working with students of all ages to find new ways of connecting with their bodies and vocal practice.  He has spent years working on different techniques to calm the mind and control the breath in any performance situation.

Josh graduated from Bard College with a degree in theater, but also moderated into music and obtained a vocal scholarship.  He began teaching students in NYC soon after graduation.  He’s performed in off-broadway shows, worked on professional metal albums, and written parody songs for Youtube.  His musical tastes span many genres, from classical, pop, and EDM to metal, hip-hop and bluegrass. He is also a piano excellent player, and dabbles in guitar and trumpet.

“Teaching is all about engagement. Engagement is all about energy. Energy is all about play. If you’re not actively playing along with your students, they have no reason to play along with you.
